Our learning philosophy focuses on a child’s natural interests and it allows room for teachers to use the butterfly they saw on the playground for an impromptu science lesson. Sure, it takes a little more creativity and flexibility on the teacher’s part but our educators have the backing and resources at Expressive Beginnings to serve each child’s most important developmental needs -- all while meeting NYS Learning Standards.

For Infants and toddlers we offer continuity of care - which means your child will remain with the same care giver from 6 weeks old until they turn 3 and transition to preschool. This helps children to develop secure attachments. Our goal is to provide the same care giver to siblings when possible to provide additional continuity.
Infants and toddlers will be provided with hands-on, sensory and language based exploration as well as scaffolded skill building experiences.
For students ages 3, 4 and 5 we address:

Preschool (ages 3-4):  In preschool, children are learning their shapes, the alphabet and numbers – many times through stories and song. Art projects and journal writing serve as catalysts to help children learn to express themselves and use creative thinking. Tricycles and bouncing balls help them to develop gross motor skills. Parents, too, are often happy to see their little ones making friends at this age.

Pre-Kindergarten (ages 4-5):
This is another exciting time in a child’s life. Not only are they talking about letters and numbers and words but they’re recognizing them, too. Science projects include plant life and animal cycles, including seeing tadpoles grow into frogs. With the Pieters Family Life Center next door in Henrietta, the children get to take advantage of physical movement classes in the dance studio, free of charge.

School Age (ages 5 through 12) – Before and After School Care: Parents appreciate that Expressive Beginnings is open as early as 6 a.m. and doesn’t close until 6 p.m. That’s plenty of time for students up through age 12 to get in extra homework help before or after their school day. The center is on the Rush-Henrietta School District bus line and conveniently located right off of the East Henrietta Road exit if parents want to drop off and pick up their children.
